Edinburgh, Scotland

I love Scotland! Edinburgh is such a beautiful city. The first thing we saw coming out of the station was the German Christmas market and the castle built into the cliffs. What a welcome!

Edinburgh is easy to explore with lots to do and lots of good food. We spent a whole day seeing the sights- went to the castle, saw the Grey Friar statue and took a walk through the cemetery. We found a great park and spent some time walking through it, listening to street musicians. It was a really nice time.

The Christmas market in town was just what we needed. So festive, beautiful and full of good food! We went one night for dinner and had Christmas ale and bread bowls with cheese fondue. A cheery night. Our hosts have made this trip pretty special too; Erin and Jordan felt like friends to us. We all stayed up late talking and drinking. Erin even bought us a whiskey sampler set! They decked out the apartment in Christmas decorations while we were there. Everyone we've met in Edinburgh has been so kind to us. It is really a special place.

The UK wasn't even on our radar while we were planning this trip and I am SO glad we ended up coming. Edinburgh is just the best.
