Jaipur, India

Jaipur, the pink city! Jaipur is beautiful and filled with pockets of big beautiful buildings. There is tons to do here. We tried to take it easy because of the craziness of the city. Luckily we did all the touristy stuff in round one, so there was less pressure to run run run.

We wandered around the market a lot. We were hoping to do some major shopping here, but it was honestly just too overwhelming. The hawkers, the people constantly trying to talk to us, the throwing of handicrafts in my face. Jaipur is filled with kind people and beautiful art, but it was just a little too much for us.

An amazing pocket of peace: Jantar Mantar! This is a must-see for anyone going to Jaipur. The Jantar Mantar is a site full of archaeological astronomical instruments from the 1700s. They look like weird enormous playgrounds for adults. It was fascinating. And quiet and peaceful. And fun!

We made our way to the Hawa Mahal, a beautiful pink palace built for women to watch the parades because they weren't allowed to be seen in public....

Another highlight: the rooftops! Jaipur is full of awesome rooftops. They offer such a fun and relaxed vibe and are truly an oasis from the craziness. We loved going out for dinner at the rooftop restaurants. At night they usually will have twinkly lights strung, nice music playing and maybe even a fire going. A pretty magical way to spend the evening.
