Pit stops in Seville and Madrid

Our original plan was to go from Orgiva to Barcelona, and then fly out to Sweden. However, there was quite a bit of political unrest in Barcelona at the time. The vote had just been completed and things were...fuzzy. We heard that traveling from Barcelona could be really difficult. So we switched up our plans and spent a few more days in Seville and Madrid. We totally made the best of it and ended up seeing a lot of great things in Madrid that we missed out on in Round 1.

The Crystal Palace in Madrid is awesome. It is a fancy, Victorian-like glass building that was once used as a conservatory. Now it is a tourist destination! There was an art exhibit going on when we went so we were able to go inside.

I now have some big dreams for how I want to build our green house at home!

Our Airbnb host gave us some great tips for Madrid (including where to get good Indian food!). We were staying in a new neighborhood, the Latin quarter, so there was lots to explore. One tip we took her up on was checking out The Temple of Debod. It's a temple from Egypt that was transported to Madrid! Really neat, plus we got to see the sunset from it.

Everyone eats so late in Spain. Here is a picture from when we went out for dinner at 7 (late for this early bird super-er). Notice that every single table is empty.

  2. Hispanics and their late eating habits, Costa Ricans are the same way. Don't know how they sleep with all that digesting going on!
